Midget White Turkeys
The Midget White turkey
is a heritage turkey breed that
was developed in the 50's to offer a smaller table bird so
that families could enjoy turkey on a more regular basis. The
Midget White Turkey is about the size of a very large chicken.
The Midget white turkey grows to about 15-20lbs, just a tad larger
then our Orpingtons and right around the size of our Muscovy
ducks. They are a wonderful flavored table bird that can be
served with out the fear of having to eat turkey for weeks.
The Midget white has won many taste tests in slow food
competitions. The Midget white turkey is on the critical list
of American heritage breeds (see American rare breeds
conservatory) I have to date been able to locate 4 stable
sources for these birds. That means less then 500 are being
wintered in the US, and none exist out side of North America.
We are at this time, building our flock and do not have any
for sale at this time.
